Top things to do on your Staycation to Nottingham

By Chloe Grayson

As much as we love everything about London, it’s always nice to take a short break away from the city and explore somewhere different.
With many of us not being able to travel abroad this year, a Staycation somewhere not too far from London is the perfect option. Located just under a two hour train journey away, Nottingham makes an ideal spot for a short break to spend with family or friends.
To make sure you make the most of what Nottingham has to offer, we thought we’d recommend some of the best things to do during your Staycation.

Visit the City of Caves

Taking a trip down to the City of Caves is a must when visiting Nottingham. You’ll embark on an underground journey through more than a thousand years of history and hear stories about what the caves were used for back in the day. This is the perfect activity for you to enjoy with the whole family but we would definitely recommend wearing appropriate footwear for this one.

Take a stroll around the Arboretum

Why not take a relaxing stroll around Nottingham Arboretum. This beautiful park has been said to have inspired J.M Barrie’s description of Neverland whilst writing Peter Pan and we can see why with its dreamy flowerbeds and ornamental lake. You can also enjoy local street food and live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at The Nottingham Arboretum Garden Bar & Bandstand for a feel-good festival vibe.

Have a browse through the shops

Featuring hundreds of national chains and independent boutiques, Nottingham is known as a top shopping destination in the UK. Choose from Old Market Square where you’ll find several high-end independent and big-name stores, the trendy Bridlesmith Gate for designer brands and elegant boutiques, two shopping malls for high street fashion at intu Victoria Centre and Intu Broadmarsh or Hockley for a selection of retro vintage stores.

Enjoy endless adventures at Robin Hood's Wheelgate Park

If you're looking for family fun and endless adventure, Robin Hood’s Wheelgate Park is the place to head. Located just a 25-minute drive from Nottingham city centre, this place features a Waterpark, Theme Park and Farm Park all in one. Guests can also get the chance to meet some of their favourite characters including Peppa Pig and Chase & Marshall from Paw Patrol.

Unwind and enjoy dinner in the city

After a fun-filled day exploring, a relaxed dinner is the perfect way to spend your evening. With several different cuisines available to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice at the wide selection of delicious Nottingham based restaurants. For an informal yet sophisticated dining experience, we’d recommend Chino Latino Nottingham. Specialising in Pan-Asian dishes, the menu draws upon the delicate flavours of China, South East Asia and modern Japan. This gem also features an extensive cocktail menu created by the restaurants very talented mixologists.

Chino Latino Nottingham is now open on for dinner bookings on Fridays and Saturdays only.
