Six restaurants serving the best desserts in London

By Amanda Gegg

There’s never been a better time than the festive season to get excited about what most of us would describe as the best of all dinner courses: dessert! And whilst London has myriad culinary delights to boast of, we have to say the city’s desserts remain strangely underrated. Therefore, we are going to make a wholehearted plea to you now to get yourself down to one of these restaurants pronto so you can see what you’ve been missing out on all this time…

Dinner by Heston (Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Knightsbridge)

Slow roasted for five hours with sweet apple caramel, Heston Blumenthal’s world-famous ‘Tipsy Cake’ is the stuff that dreams are made of. This unique take on a traditional pineapple upside down cake can be found at his revered restaurant ‘Dinner by Heston’.

Circolo Popolare (Fitzrovia)

The geniuses behind Italian Instagram sensation Circolo Popolare (and its sister restaurant Gloria in East London) have made sure their desserts have become a big London talking point.

Flesh and Buns (Seven Dials, Covent Garden)

Hailing all the way from the US, the marshmallowy sensation ‘S’mores’ are really having a moment in London and one of the best can be found at quirky Japanese restaurant Flesh and Buns.

Bob Bob Ricard (Soho)

Would this really be a proper dessert list without a melting chocolate orb? Of course there are many mouth-watering options to choose from across London but in our opinion the best can be found at Bob Bob Ricard.

TOZI London (Victoria)

With the unique added ingredient of Bailey’s thrown in to a sumptuous mix of crunchy biscuit and oozing chocolate ganache, the TOZI Affogato certainly isn’t one to be missed – but then again none of their desserts are!

Hawksmoor (Various Locations)

If you’re all about the home comforts when it comes to your desserts then you’ll be hard pressed to find a better option than the peanut butter shortbread at Hawksmoor. Just make sure you save some room for it after your roast dinner!
