If there’s one thing London does well, it’s a boat ride. This is mainly down to the fact that our city happens to house one of the most famous rivers in the world – the magnificent River Thames – but also because we’ve got ‘messing about on the river’ perfected to a tee.
If you fancy joining us for some quintessential British fun then here is our pick of London’s most impressive boat rides…
Thames Clippers
The Thames Clippers really do rule the roost when it comes getting around London by boat. In fact, it’s probably easiest to think of them as a ‘waterborne tube’ because they will get you from A to B just as efficiently.
Tate to Tate
The ‘Tate Boat’ is technically part of the Thames Clippers fleet but a great option for culture-seekers who fancy travelling directly from the Tate Modern at Bankside all the way down to the Tate Britain in Millbank (or vice versa).
London Duck Tours
Many of you will have seen the distinctive yellow ‘London Ducks’ driving around the capital and these amphibious vessels are a great outing for all the family to enjoy. This tour will show you the best parts of the city from the land and, of course, from the Thames itself.
London Waterbus Company
Based on the Regents Canal, the London Waterbus Company have made a name for themselves by offering quaint canal boat trips that take you past North London’s most beautiful neighbourhoods, such as Little Venice and Camden Lock.
Hidden Depths Canal Cruises
If you’re a large party or even looking to host a daytime event to remember, then you needn’t look any further than the rainbow-coloured bunting of the Hidden Depths barges, which depart from King’s Cross on selected dates (via private booking).
Bow Boat Company
The Bow Boat Company offer a unique bespoke hire service, so that you and a group of friends or family can be escorted around East London on a gorgeous canal boat with your very own skipper.
