Unusual things to do in London in 2019

By Lauren Harmes

London is a whirlwind of weird and wonderful things – that’s just one of the reasons we love it so much. But being such a large city, it’s easy to miss one of the real gems in the hundreds of activities that pop up every day.

To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most unusual new places to have popped up recently in the capital:

1. Hacha

Where: 378 Kingsland Rd, London E8 4AA

What: If you like tequila, mescal and Mexican food then Hacha is right up your street. Enjoy margaritas on tap finished with a citrus mist, and a seemingly endless list of delicious tequila cocktails. Need something to soak up all that naughty tequila? Hacha offers a small menu of tasty Mexican food to keep you going all night.

2. The Soak

Where: Terminus Place, London, SW1W 0RP

What: This new super-cool restaurant focuses on all things – you guessed it – soaked. All dishes are created through brining, fermenting and soaking, ensuring the most intense flavours in every bite. From cider pickled eggs and cured venison tartar to hot & sour pickle prawns and salted Scottish cod, there will be something to tickle your fancy at The Soak.

3. Lucky Voice Karaoke

Where: 84 Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1DL

What: The chain of Lucky Voice bars have been going across London for a while, but their new Holborn site is one of the best yet. This underground karaoke treasure is adorned with speakers, TV screens, velvet sofas and vinyls – and even a vintage photo booth to remember your night forever. There’s even a drinks button to bring a bartender to your booth for some Dutch courage before you belt out a ballad.

4. The Wing

Where: TBC

What: Founded in 2016, The Wing is a co-working and community space for business women who want to network and work with other women. With successful spaces already open across the USA and Canada, they’re bringing their unique concept to London this September in the form of a five-story townhouse with a tea room and terraces, but the location is being kept under wraps for now. 5. Peggy Porschen

Where: Kings Road

What: While Peggy Porschen is not a new name – at least not among their faithful Instagrammers – this cake shop in Belgravia has now opened its second café on Kings Road in Chelsea. A celebrity favourite, this stunning Insta-ready café serves up sweet treats, tea, champagne and much more.
