Top ways to celebrate London Wine Week

By Lauren Harmes

Wine fans, rejoice! London Wine Week is back from 13th – 19th May in our wonderful city.

The festival showcases pop-ups, parties, dinners and tastings – with hundreds of delicious wines to sample in bars across the capital – with £6 wine flights available in over 125 bars.

Digital passes for Wine Week are free, giving you all the information about events, as well as access to the wine flights.

To help you decide where to spend this week, we’ve pulled together some of the best events happening across London.

1) The Real Greek

If you like your food and wine in a Mediterranean style, then The Real Greek group of restaurants is the one for you.

With a new dedicated Greek wine menu, The Real Greek will be offering diners the chance to enjoy a bottomless Mixed Meze Plate on Tuesday 14th May from 5-11pm when ordering a bottle of Greek white, rosé or red wine from their new menu. Yamas!

Where: Various locations

2) Freixenet at the London Wine Week Hub

Weather permitting, there’s nothing better than a few al fresco refreshments – especially when those refreshments include bubbles!

Wine producer Freixenet is bringing its Prosecco garden to the London Wine Week Hub at Flat Iron Square from 15th to 19th May, offering free entry, sparkling wines and a stunning garden to enjoy them in.

Where: London Wine Week Hub at Flat Iron Square, Southwark Street, London, SE1 1TD

3) Renegede Wines

With it being London Wine Week, it’s only right that we should be focusing on some of those British wines that are popping up across the country.

Bethnal Green winery Renegeded Wines will be showcasing their collection at the LWW Hub from 15th to 19th May, discussing their wine-making process, and allowing guests to sample their wines from the Renegede Winery Bar.

Where: London Wine Week Hub at Flat Iron Square, Southwark Street, London, SE1 1TD

4) Wine tasting in the sky

If you suffer from a fear of heights, then this one might not be for you.

Dangling above the 02 Arena 100ft in the year, Vins de Provence will be hosting wine and food tastings where guests can enjoy a three-course meal and wine pairings for the more daring of wine fans.

A sommelier will be up there with you leading you through the tasting, and tickets cost £129 for these lunchtime experiences from 13th – 16th May.

Where: The 02, Peninsula Square, London, SE10 0DX

5) Wine Heroes – vinyl DJ night

After all of that food and delicious wine, it’s time to finish the week with a good old fashioned knees up! What perfect way to do that than to head to Enoteca Rabezzana in Farringdon – a hot spot for Italian wine and food culture.

The wine list will be led by Uva Wine Experience, genuine Italian food supplied by Enoteca, and a vinyl-only DJ set to see out the evening on 18th May.

Where: Enoteca Rabezzana, 62-63 Long Lane, London, EC1A 9EJ
