Top 6 Christmas grottos in London

On the top of every child’s wish list this holiday season is to meet Father Christmas – and what better place to do that than a magical grotto?

Lucky for Londoners and tourists alike, the capital is full to the brim of super-festive and heart-warming grottos which are just as fun for adults and children alike.

Here we’ve picked some of the best:

Santa Land – Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

The Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is the ultimate Christmas destination in London, and its grotto doesn’t disappoint either. This is a grotto and a half, with a 45m-long ice slide, plenty of eateries and lots of child-friendly rides along with – you guessed it – the opportunity to meet Santa himself.

Open from 21 November 10am until 6pm.

Father Christmas at Hamleys

When you’re looking for somewhere to take the children at Christmas time, Hamleys has got to be near the top of the list (as long as you remember your credit card!). Not only is it an awe-inspiring toy emporium, but it also has its own grotto where little ones can meet Santa, play games and learn elf songs as well as going home with a special gift bag.

Open until Christmas Eve.

Santa’s Snowflake Grotto at Westfield

Get your shopping done and keep the kids happy at the same time? Sounds like heaven, right? Luckily, Westfield London Shopping Centre has their very own grotto. You and your children will be transported to the Snow Factory on the North Pole where the little ones can make their own personalised Christmas decorations and meet Santa in his cabin as well as getting a special gift.

Open until Christmas Eve 11am until 7:30pm

Santa at the Winter Forest, Broadgate

Head to the snow-covered pines of The Winter Forest to visit Santa in what is one of the most magical grottos in London. Situated next to Liverpool Street station, this grotto is here for three days only – and best of all, it’s free!

Open Saturday 23 November 12-3pm, Tuesday 10th December 12-3pm and Thursday 19th December 6-9pm.

Santa’s Grotto – Alexandra Palace

Alexandra Palace – one of the most beautiful buildings in London – and now home to another spectacular Santa’s grotto! Your little elves can enjoy a meeting with Santa, a small gift plus the chance to get their photo taken with Father Christmas in his festive grotto.

Open 5 – 23 December 10am till 6pm.

Harrods Secret Forest Grotto

Finally, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to the magical land of the Harrods Santa’s grotto which has been running since 1955! This year, Harrods have partnered with Swarovski to bring you The Secret Forest Grotto – a snow covered woodland filled with Christmas surprises.

Open now until 24 December 10am until 8pm.
